Hinder - Extreme Behavior - Rock Music CD Review

One word describes the CD Extreme Behavior from Hinder... AWESOME!

I wish it werent the case but, its not everyday that I get a CD for review that I can just pop in and comfortably listen to from beginning to end. There is usually a song or two that I just cant force myself to get through. Not at all the case with Extreme Behavior. Every track is enjoyable and was pretty easy for me to listen to from start to finish.

Extreme Behavior has a nicely varied, mix of 10 tracks that are very well written and brilliantly performed songs by these clearly outstanding musicians. With many of the songs displaying a lot of the kind emotion that makes for a really great listen. Seemingly drawing from what I can only imagine are their own real life experiences. At different points touching on the most real emotions of love, heartbreak, pain, failed relationships and unattainable romance. Theyre all here.

Overall Extreme Behavior is outstanding from beginning to end. One of those CDs that after a few listens the songs are just etched into your memory. A must have for the Rock fan. Really spectacular from beginning to end.

While this entire CD is outstanding some of my favorites are track 4 - Nothin Good About Goodbye, track 8 - Lips Of An Angel, and track 10 - Should

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 1 - Get Stoned. Good stuff!

Popular Wedding Song Choices

When planning a wedding there are many details to consider. Part of the planning, especially for an evening wedding reception, will include music. Whether you choose to have a DJ or a live band, the music style as well as your first dance song will be part of your decision-making.

For this choice, there can be as many sources of inspiration as there are couples, but if you're looking for ideas, here are a few tips to help get the ball rolling...and the music playing!

- First Dance Romance: For your first dance wedding song, is there a song that is special to you and your spouse-to-be? Perhaps one which reminds you of when you first met, or was playing on your first date. The song need only be special to the two of you; for your first dance, no one else in the Universe matters.

- Ask your parents: Is there a type of music that was popular back when they met or got married? For example, many couples choose to pay tribute and thanks to their parents by choosing to include some music from their parents' era at their weddings. This can be very touching for members of the guestlist who are old enough to remember the music, and will enjoy the nostalgia.

- Culture: If there is a culture one or both of you come from and would like to honor, ask some relatives for their choice in songs which come from this unique background. Again, a few choices in this genre will be very much appreciated by guests to whom this music would be very special.

- DJ: For the most popular wedding song ideas, your DJ would be a great source for choosing your first dance song as well as current trends for wedding celebrations and parties. He or she is an expert and will be able to tell you what is popular currently.

This should help you get started. Have a wonderful time planning your special day, and an even more wonderful enjoying it!

Go To Music College And Follow Your Dearms

There are very few people who have the courage to follow their dreams and you may know of many talented souls who have given up their passion for arts like painting or music just because they did not have time and were too busy in their pursuit of a college degree.

I would not actually blame these people because the fact of the matter is that the reality is that there is not much scope for everyone to become a pop star or a classical singer or an expert violinist and when one needs to think about the things that one needs to do for a living, the focus automatically shifts to relatively mundane things like engineering, accounting or law.

These careers offer you a much higher probability of ensuring a secured job that will earn the monthly pay packet that can be used to pay bills and monthly installments that you will definitely create once you settle down in life.

However, does all talent in music and other arts go this way and die a natural death. I think not. There are music colleges that allow you to obtain a double major wherein you can study the subject of your dreams and at the same time ensure that you get a degree that you may need. This means that you can study a side subject along with music so that after college, you do not end up working as a janitor or a waiter in Mc Donald's.

One is not suggesting that all musicians end up like this but the fact is that the probability of success as a musician is much lower. Many musicians never make it to the lime light and therefore die a unknown lonely death. It is more practical to have back up so that you will at least be able to earn your daily bread without being down in the dumps.

Guitar Effects Make Playing Guitar Cool

Guitars without effects? Man, that would be like houses without paints and trees without leaves. Can you imagine those heart wrenching "wahs" that almost bring tears to your eyes? So, we all know the importance of guitar effects. What most people don't know is what to consider when they buy guitar effects.

You must consider the genre of the music you play. Whether you like it or not, there are certain effects that are alien to certain music genres. For example, can you imagine some of those rock-specific effects in a jazz music performance?

Yes, I do not rule out the fact that there is always room for innovations and fusion. But, if you're reading this article as your source of information on guitar effects, you still have some years to learn the basics before you start such explorations.

Another thing you'll have to take note of is that there are single-effect pedals also called stompboxes. They are usually kept on the ground and control by the foot. That way you can play with a lot more ease. There is a wide range of such single effects to pick from. A good way to start is to use one that reproduces the sound of your favorite guitarist.

Other guitar effects come as multi-effects processors. These contain many effects in one box. They are not as easy to use as the stompboxes. However, they give you a wide range of effects in just one box.

These effects, like seasoning to a good food, are selected carefully by every guitarist as they grow in their careers. You can't actually get enough effects. There'll always be a new one that will catch your fancy. So, start your journey with your first effects today.

Bill McRea is the publisher of Guitar Warehouse the best place to Buy Guitar Effects and learn Guitar Playing Techniques. Visit our site for over 60 Free Guitar Lessons and Information about playing Guitar.

How to Capture a Mood Using a Few Chords

When a landscape artist wants to get the essence of a beautiful scene, they make a quick pencil sketch of it.

The artist doesn't want to represent the entire landscape as it is, but as they feel it to be. A few lines scribbled here and there indicate the feelings the artist wishes to convey. We musicians can do the same thing! We can quickly sketch out our ideas on paper by using chords and a chord chart.

A chord chart is just a way to notate when chords change through time. You can write out 8-bars to begin with (as I do). Now let us suppose you have the urge to capture something musically. What do you do? Well, for starters, you can pick a key to compose with.

For example, let's choose the Key of C. Now after deciding that, we know that the piece will have a Major sound to it. We also know that we have 6 chords to create with from the C Major scale. With these primary decisions out of the way we now can focus on notating our musical ideas and capturing a mood. Here's how I do it:

I start by just improvising and letting the music come out naturally. For example, I play a C Maj. 7 chord and I like what I hear. I'll write down the first 2-bars of the melody, then place a chord symbol on top of the chart so I now have the musical idea in place.

My goal is to finish charting the 8-bar phrase with chords all the way through. Once this is accomplished I have the first section of music. If more is to come, I simply write out another 8-bar phrase and keep adding more music.

Subliminal Messages in Music - How to Use Subliminal Messages in Music to Change Your Life

A subliminal message is a signal or a message recorded in a video or audio beneath the original text. Such subliminal messages have no influence on our conscious mind but affect our subconscious. The subconscious may then influence our conscious actions to act in according to the message embedded within the message. Some argue that effects of subliminal messages are rather insignificant while others argue that they are unfair and potentially harmful, especially if abused

These days subliminal messages are very much popular in music industry. Subliminal messages in music have been given a name of 'Backward Messages' or more commonly 'Backward Masking'. It is very easy to record backward messages on existing sounds or subliminal messages in music with the help of the computer on simply a click of mouse. An interesting thing about subliminal messages in music is that they can easily be disguised with other natural or unnatural form of sounds such as blowing wind, traffic noise, rain falling or even water crashing. Since subliminal messages in music have been discovered many controversial examples can be found.

In the late 60's a Beatles album was supposedly contained one example of a subliminal messages in music, a suggestion that Paul McCartney had died. The controversy raged extensively when some religious groups claimed that Satan was possessing the singers and causing them to insert subliminal messages in music.

Another popular example of subliminal messages in music is the popular song Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin. This song contained not one but many subliminal messages. "Play backwards. Hear words sung", is the message you hear at the very end of the song. Amazingly, if you play the song backward you will find many satanic related messages. For example, somewhere in the middle of the song it says, "It's my sweet Satan. The one whose little path would make me sad whose power is fake."

Subliminal message in music are mostly popular amongst rock and electronic bands. There are many thousands of albums containing subliminal messages. Some bands do this through hidden means while some of them do it openly. Pitcher Shifter, known for incorporating technology in their music, has been openly making use of subliminal messages in their music for years. In their album Infotainment released in 1996 they included two tracks and went as far as to include a warning message at the start of its first track that a subliminal message is about to be played.

On the other hand, the band Judas Priest was taken to court for using subliminal messages in their songs which believed to have urged the listeners to commit suicide. The case was discharged and they were never proven to have used these techniques.

Josie and the pussycats, a movie released in year 2001, It focuses on the concept of subliminal messages in music and effects on teen minds when constantly listened to subliminal music but also assures viewer that the spell can be broken and one can return to a normal life.

Subliminal messages in videos have been proven to affect sales of condiments at the movie theatres, and in 2006 Derren Brown, and English illusionist, did an experiment which showed how subliminal messages could cause such dramatic effects as to cause 65% of people who had watched a movie to have completely forgotten the plot.

Subliminal messages in music do not necessarily need to be all bad. If one was to listen to a subliminal message in music designed to help them lose weight, studies indicate that they would, more than likely, be able to lose weight dramatically. Utilizing subliminal messages in music has not been studied long enough to determine their effectiveness, but should they prove to be effective, they can shave years off of your own personal change, whether you want more confidence, to lose weight, or to quit smoking.

Robert Watson is a certified hypnotherapist with the ABH and the NGH, and has worked with affirmations and subliminal messages for over ten years. Visit his Subliminal Messages website for more information about using affirmations and subliminal messages to help you lose weight, quit smoking, have a more positive outlook and more.

The Ultimate Bar Guide for a BVI Yacht Charter

What is a Caribbean Vacation without a few cocktails and some adventure? While cruising on a BVI Yacht Charter offers some of the finest luxuries any vacation can offer, it never hurts to go ashore for some mingling with locals and a little libation. Here is a list of some of some of the best beach bars in the British Virgin Islands. Land HO!!!

ANEGADA

If you're swimming at Loblolly Bay, base yourself close to The Big Bamboo. Great lunches and a large outdoor bar just steps from the beach. Anegada Reef Hotel, Restaurant and Bar is the closest bar to the dock. This friendly establishment is popular, has a casual atmosphere, and has the freshest lobster that is to die for! Neptune's Treasure is a serene restaurant and bar further down n the beach. On weekends the bar becomes lively with music and an influx of Tortola residents looking for a weekend escape.

BEEF ISLAND

Trellis Bay

The Last Resort has been synonymous with live entertainment since the beginning of yacht chartering. Enjoy great food and live entertainment. On the south shore of the bay, there is quite an assortment of local shops, artist studios, bars and restaurants. The monthly Trellis Bay Full Moon party is anticipated all year long. Two large 'fireballs' are lit while locals dance the night away.

COOPER ISLAND

Cooper Island Beach Club is a popular restaurant and bar are obeautiful Manchioneel Beach. The island is an ideal anchorage spot to stop and have a drink while you watch the sun set over The Drake Channel.

JOST VAN DYKE

White Bay The Soggy Dollar Bar is famous for its 'Painkillers', which were actually first invented here. The original recipe is a secret family recipe. Great Harbor Foxy's Tamarind Bar has certainly changed from the early 70's. Charter vacationers used to listen to true calypso while eating lobster with all of the locals at one long table. It has grown enormously. All kinds of talented local bands and musicians play here. The music and dancing can go on late into the night. Besides the bar and restaurant, there is also a large gift shop with a wide variety of local items, including CDs and the obligatory Foxy's T-shirt. Be sure to bring something personal you can tack to the ceiling, anything from Business cards to hats and even underwear is acceptable. This place is for those who are easily offended , but most people at least stop in and have a drink.

Little Jost Van Dyke 'Foxy's Taboo' restaurant and bar is the new 'in' place. You are more likely to meet Foxy here than at his original bar. Moorings are available, but this can be a rough spot in unsettled weather.

MARINA CAY

Now owned by Pussers, this famous island resort has a bar at the very top of the island, offering great sunset views and live music some nights.

NORMAN ISLAND

The infamous Willie T is an all out party destination with plenty of drinking and wild antics. Expect the unexpected. Not recommended for children or the faint hearted! Pirates Bight offers a more relaxed way to watch the sunset, but also has music, dancing and a very popular Happy Hour with every exotic frozen drink you can imagine.

TORTOLA

At Cane Garden Bay, Quito Rhymer is an extremely popular local musician who can be found performing at his bar/restaurant, 'Quito's Gazebo'. Further down the beach, Al Henley's Big Banana Paradise Club, Rhymers Beach Bar, Stanley's Welcome Bar and Myett's Garden and Grill all offer meals, drinks and live music on selected nights that can be heard from your anchorage spot out onto the water. 'The Pub', below the Fort Burt Hotel, was the original bar in Road Town in The 60's and 70's and is a lively hot spot today. There are bars at Village Cay Marina, Mariner Inn, Pussers waterfront and many other locations in town, but these can hardly be considered beach bars, although many people visit them when embarking and disembarking from their Caribbean Yacht Charter.

VIRGIN GORDA

Spanish Town

The Bath and Turtle Pub often has live music and dancing.

The Baths

Poor Man's Bar is the ultimate watering hole to relax after snorkeling.

North Sound

Leverick Bay has a beach barbecue every Friday, with live music and entertainment. The Sand Box is a casual bar and restaurant offering lunch and dinner. The Bitter End is a large resort with shops, water sport facilities, restaurant and an English pub, but they often also have live music and entertainment. Saba Rock is an excellent restaurant and bar located on a tiny island. Enjoy the popular 2-4-1 Happy Hour, while watching a fabulous sunset over The Sound.

West End/Sopers Hole

Pussers Landing & Company Store has two restaurants and a variety of shops, but it also has a popular bar. Here's a hint, when you order your first 'Pussers Pain Killer', ask for a card. After visiting three different Pussers bars (and having a painkiller at each) you will get a Pussers Triangle Pennant you can fly from your boat - or hang at home!

While most vacationers like to enjoy the comforts of their luxury yacht charter, a true Caribbean Yacht Charter isn't complete until you stop for a cocktail at a few of the best spots in the British Virgin Islands. You never know what you'll see or who you willl meet, but you'll be sure to have some tales to tell at your own watering hole back home for years to come.

Taking "iPod Culture" into Clubs as Well as Cyberspace: Jonny Rocket Interviewed by The G-Man

Already making plenty of noise in the marketplace is a new concept called Playlist, which exists both as a club and as an online music competition (see www.ipod-dj.com for details on how to enter and what you can win).

Playlist is attracting attention for several reasons. First, as a part of what some are calling "iPod Culture," Playlist is helping disseminate music to a wide audience. And second, many of us just love the Warholian idea of a bunch of people showing up at a club to be a DJ for 15 minutes of fame.

So far, the Playlist club is only in London, but you can expect them to go global soon because this concept takes social networking and marries it to a party context. And who doesn't like a nice loud party?

Briefly, here's the rundown on the two forms of this new phenomenon:

BRICK-AND-MORTAR PLAYLIST.

You arrive with your favorite 15-minutes of music on an iPod or other digital music player, sign-up (first come, first served) and you play your songs through the club's sound system.

Or you sign up to be a judge of the quarter-hour sets. The best DJs win extra set time and prizes.

Or you just drop by the club and dance.

CYBERSPACE PLAYLIST.

Anyone can register at the Web site and send a 15-minute playlist for judging. Again, there are prizes for the best set. Playlist does not yet feature streaming, downloading or Internet radio broadcasts, but you can bet that these are coming soon.

A BEHIND-THE-SCENES CHAT.

I spoke with Playlist's co-creator, Jonny "Rocket" Evans, who is excited by the unpredictability of his new venture. "What will happen at Playlist? That's just it. We don't know what will happen." Evans is happy to let the audience take control. "We can't say what the music will be, except that it will be diverse. We think it'll appeal to people with broad musical taste, a sense of humor and the desire to have fun. We also think we'll attract artists and musicians, who will want to explore the creative potential of the whole idea."

Evans sees the Playlist concept as inevitable. "I think music is about to enter a new boom time. It's going to be very interesting, because digital downloads (legal and peer-to-peer) have reinvigorated interest in music, and I think the most recent US album sales and downloads figures from SoundScan show this. This also encourages a sense of diversity in the music-loving audience. We think this is going to mean people want the unexpected. And this is why we think the Playlist idea is an idea that reflects its time."

The current consolidation of major media across the globe is somewhat counter-balanced by the Playlist concept. As Evans notes, "In the case of radio, for example, commercial radio playlists are designed to appeal to a particular demographic, which musician and music tsar Feargal Sharkey describes as 'Teenage girls,' as this group statistically buys the most music. And that's not good for music. We think we live at a point in time when digital diversity will propel music sales beyond anything ever seen before. And we really, really like the idea of harnessing a personal technology such as the iPod in a way that transforms it into a collective, social activity such as Playlist."

CHANGING TIMES.

There is a philosophical element in the way Evans describes the culture surrounding Playlist. "Music is at once a deeply personal activity and a deeply social activity, both for players and listeners. I think music is tribal glue. And it's a truism, isn't it, that whenever music marries new technology it sees economic benefit that is good for companies, artists and all involved in the entertainment ecosystem," he states, pointing to the sales figures of firms involved in sheet music, juke boxes, 33rpm vinyl, and clubs, not to mention CDs.

"Playlist is all about the music, not the genre," Evans says. As their manifesto states: "The principle is simple: if you want to share your music, just turn up, sign in and play out. If you want to judge other people's music, turn up, sign up and speak out. If you simply want to party, just turn up, tune in, dance it out."

In the planning stages for months, Playlist is now launching down the block and in cyberspace near you. Everyone can participate, and everyone can be a DJ, at least fifteen minutes at a time.

Staying Power - The Bars And Restaurants That Stand The Test Of Time

Here today, gone tomorrow, bars have a reputation for short-term success. But a few have the ability to ride the times and keep on top of the game.

Ten years ago, I was sitting in The Groucho Club one late summers evening discussing with a now well known haute couture designer, the new wave of drinking culture that was enveloping the capital, arguing that London really had never been so exciting. Up until that point, drinks were very much a secondary element of the overall experience wine was simply white or red, beer came only in a pint glass and vodka was whatever paint-stripper the barman chose to pour. But in the nineties, we were on the cusp of a cocktail movement. New-world wines were making the Chardonnay and Shiraz as commonplace as the Bordeaux, while new conceptual drinks like Red Bull were seriously shaking up the market, broadening peoples drinking landscape and challenging us to think about drinking as more of a lifestyle. Slowly, what was behind the bar appeared to be taking over the focus of the night. People were whispering rumours of late night bars that were open into the wee hours, where glamourous glitterati rubbed hips with the international jet-set over Manhattans and Martinis. They, along with The Groucho, were the places everyone wanted to be seen and their popularity seemed untouchable to all but the most cynical.

Of course, everything has a lifespan, we cynically agreed: fashion is dead in a season, and a fashionable bar well you wouldnt want to bet the house on it would you? We both concluded that fashions simply cant last and those bars, which today were the subject of snaking queues, would quickly turn to yesterdays news as would the drinks that were being quaffed within. Of course, in most cases we werent far wrong. Mondo, Saint, Titanic, Riki Tik... all have fallen by the wayside having once been celebrity favourites of their day. Many others have turned from exclusive A-list excellence to godawful tourist tat. The Gin Sling became the Sea Breeze became the Bramble became the Vanilla Mojito

But its not all doom and gloom. Today, another ten years hence, I am back in the same leather couch of the same Groucho, and ordering from the menu a Red Bull, a drink whose ability to transcend fads and trends seems to symbolise the aspirations of nightlife culture. It has history and heritage and has attained almost timeless appeal. Fashionable works for a while, but every owner, manager and promoter hopes and strives for one thing ultimately and that is to be the next classic. Because the classics, while small in number, exist on a plain far superior to fashion. Dotted amongst the sprawling community of one-off wonders that populate the bar world, a few classics really have stood the test of time, riding the cyclical waves to achieve immortal credibility. The Groucho is one of those timeless classics. Through the years it has always been at the top of its game, its members list comprising the same names that populate the pages of the celebrity press together with the successful and powerful in the world of media.

Nowadays, octogenarian founder members sit comfortably alongside young achievers and its long-term future would appear to be set in stone. Embassy is another long-time winner or more to the point, its ever-present Rock n Roll proprietor, Mark Fuller, who ran the original Embassy twenty years ago with equal success. This most recent incarnation of one of Londons most famous clubs, now with a fine dining restaurant that counts among the capitals very best, and glitzy nightclub in the basement, is a rare constant in the oscillating world of the fashionable. Another face that has always been associated with bar and club supremacy is Jake Panayiotou who ran original celebrity hot-spot, Browns for a decade before moving on in its hay-day. His last few years at the helm of the Wellington Club in Knightsbridge have seen the age-old members club climb to yet new heights. But its not only members clubs that can battle through the ages unscathed. Music-led venues such as Medicine Bar in Islington, Bar Rumba, The Cross, Bar Vinyl and The End have all proved their mettle, while the likes of Hanover Grand, The Gardening Club and Iceni have collapsed into the annuls of hip history.

So, what is it that sets the one-hit-wonders apart from the immortals? What makes a classic? Three characteristics seem to pump through the veins of all the long-term winners.

Quality, choice and adaptability, says Cas, The Grouchos pre-eminent bar manager, as he deftly shakes up cocktails from behind the bar. You have to offer a quality experience in the drinks, the music, the food and the people. You must give customers what they want and you have to adapt to the times. Subtly underlining the point, my Red Bull silently arrives at the table on its own tray, dressed with a single, perfectly folded napkin.

Can staying power really be so simple to achieve? With twenty years of success behind The Groucho, the club is quite an authority on the subject, but it was Darwin who concluded that the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting to their environment. Sounds pretty familiar to me and, lets face it, you cant argue with Darwin.

HERE TO STAY

Our selection of bars that we think will still be doing it in ten years time

MAYFAIR: Embassy

An all-round club for the all-round socialite, Embassy offers food on a par with Michelin starred restaurants, drinks that are as good as any great cocktail bar, a basement club and a guestlist that could double as a whos who of London.

COVENT GARDEN: The End & AKA

One of the capitals most respected dance music venues, with Mr C behind its success. Music is always ahead of its time and drinks are a world away from most dance music venues.

KNIGHTSBRIDGE: Wellington Club

With over 100 years of history, The Wellington has been reborn as an exclusive hangout for the citys hippest. Lounge bar and club rolled into one and popular with the paps and the press alike.

WEST: Woodys

On the banks of Londons longest canal, Woodys has become accepted as the members bar for the music industry. Three floors of food drink and dance with a collection of the best music and cocktail mixologists in the country.

ISLINGTON: Medicine Bar

It was the bar that put Islington on the credible map. One of the original DJ bars that has been made a home to the clubbing community of the 1990s.

CAMDEN: Bar Vinyl

Reputedly the first DJ bar in London, Bar Vinyl combines a record shop with the only bar in Camden really worth its salt. The bar is minuscule, but the offering is enormous and the future is vast.

SHOREDITCH: Home

One of the originators of the Shoreditch movement, Home made its mark before all of the others and continues to hold its own. It has moved from a scraggly basement bar to a slick, but funky cocktail bar and restaurant and continues to define the times.

SOHO: The Groucho

A favourite media hangout, The Groucho is like a party in your own front room with the kind of people that anybody would eat their own right arm to have turn up at their party. Now with a more modern bar on the first floor to complement the leather and wood ground floor classic, it is a members bar that suits all and bound to see in another twenty year term.

HOXTON: Zigfrid

A newcomer to the Hoxton set, Zigfrid is most likely to be here in ten years. Brainchild of leading bar designer, Paul Daly, it appeals to the more creative Hoxtonians and since the district is a hotbed of creativity, its proving pretty popular.

FITZROVIA: Social

A collaboration between bar gurus The Breakfast Group and music gurus, Heavenly Social, this backstreet concrete bunker of a bar offers some of the best DJ-led and live music about. Now with sister venues in Islington and Nottingham, Social is destined for a big future.

Music Review of Spirit Healing Chants by Sophia

It wasn't long after I first fell in love with the Mount Shasta area that I discovered Sophia's Hidden Waters/ Sacred Ground CD. Her stunningly pure, sensuously hypnotic vocals carved a window into my heart, a window which remains open to this day. Sophia is able to put more heart and soul into her voice than all but a few singers I've ever heard. But more than just having technical chops, Sophia evokes the sublime passion of the Goddess. Listening to Sophia is like listening to an angel, one who is able to bridge the apparent divide between this world and that of pure, loving Spirit. Her entire discography, including Emergence, Return, Chakra Healing Chants and more, is well worth collecting.

The musicians on Spirit Healing Chants are truly an amazing group of stars in their own right. Gifted singer-songwriter Michael Stillwater plays guitar and adds his inimitable voice to " Heart of the Mother/I am One," while Raphael contributes keyboards. Along the way, Fantuzzi gifts us with invocations and vocals on "Universal Lover," and Donnie Regalmuto offers keyboards, vocals, percussion and programming throughout. Additional artists contribute violin, bass, percussion, flutes, sax and more.

Other chants on Spirit Healing Chants that Sophia and crew do more than justice to include " Blessed are the Peacemakers," " Shakti," " Keepers of the Garden/We are the Ones" and the delightfully jazz-tinged " Celebrate this Day."

An exquisite accompaniment to tantra and other yoga practices, active meditation or massage, Spirit Healing Chants artfully and passionately celebrates the Divine in all of manifest creation. Be sure to give Sophia's new CD your undivided attention. Your heart will love you for it.

'Antidotes' by Foals - Album Review

For all the ubiquity of post-punk inspired bands flooding the mainstream over recent years, the amount of truly innovative music they have collectively produced has been disappointing by comparison. It's not difficult to see why; the original class of 78-82 set the bar high and bequeathed one of the most astonishingly imaginative musical legacies ever - a lavish cross-pollination that embraced punk, disco, dub reggae, funk, glam and krautrock to often dizzying extremes. And while some of these acts (Talking Heads, Wire) have become touchstones for a generation of indie kids, other key players (Associates, Magazine) have proved simply too rich to rob - talents so 'out there' as to defy influence.

It's a willingness to experiment, both musically and technologically, that's been missing of late. All the aforementioned artists broke new ground in the studio and, in their own ways, redefined what the pop single could be - mental but magnificent, yet still within detection of the Smash Hits radar. Certainly, the likes of Franz Ferdinand and Maximo Park have produced top-notch material in recent years but, worryingly, little new ground has been broken and the 30-year-old model remains the blueprint.

Thank flip, then, for Foals and their wonderful new album, Antidotes. Ostensibly, given their youth, NME-darling status and oft-mentioned Skins appearance, it would be easy to dismiss this Oxford bunch as yet more spiky-guitar-driven, jerky vocal, Gang of Four wannabes. Not so. Foals have ambition by the truckload and, while their influences are clearly apparent, they've applied them in new and unpredictable ways. And finally, thrillingly, over a decade after Oasis single-handedly kicked the cack out of musical progression, here's a guitar band that's clearly in love with the studio, electronics and the notion of stretching possibility.

The singles Cassius and Balloons are perfectly formed pop confections that, like with all the best albums, only scratch the surface of the whole. African-influenced guitars abound but it's the concise drive and restrained neurosis that strikes, as well as the arresting use of saxophone (think Mirror In The Bathroom rather than Baker Street). The album's true heart lies deeper, however, and the tension is released throughout Antidotes at several key moments, so when everyone stops to admire the beautiful view they've created, - the heart-rending chorus of Red Sock Pugie; the gentle ascent of Big, Big Love (vaguely reminiscent of Unforgettable Fire-era U2) - it's exhilarating.

At last, the noughties have their own Fear of Music, Chairs Missing or Fourth Drawer Down - a record driven by an impulse to create something new, where musical dexterity is of secondary importance to the idea, but still retaining one foot on the dance floor. Yes, that good.

Everything Comes Handy With Detailed Wedding Checklist

Organizing a wedding party is not a child's play unless you create a detailed wedding checklist. The complexities related to the various events involved in wedding preparations are really mind-boggling. To be able to cover all the important aspects of the day, you need to have a detailed version of the original wedding checklist. At times, while you note down something, you don't think about the minute issues related to it. These little things can later have negative impact on your efforts. So your list would need to cover all major and minor points related to the marriage.

When The Going Gets Tough

A detailed list means that it contains something extra that normally you won't consider remembering. By extra, we mean planning for what that is hardly expected, planning for emergencies. As we all agree, a crisis can happen at any point of time, be it on the day of your first interview or even your D-day. And when it comes to your very special day, nothing to compromise about, agree? So, it better to consider these things as early as you prepare your pre wedding list. it is advisable for the bride as well the groom to prepare an emergency kit for themselves that comprises of everything that you think might be needed at any point of time. The bridal kit shall contain all the essentials meant for tip to toe that include comb, a pair of scissors, moist tissues, safety pins, a mouth-freshener, emergency pads and a mini sewing kit. The kit for groom shall have a deodorant, mouth-freshener, wallet, marriage license, and a spare camera. Apart from these, a medical kit shall also be kept ready with aids for general medical emergencies like headache, stomachache, body ache, flu, nausea, bruise and minor cuts. These kits shall be kept handy with the maids following you.

Know What Is Larger Than Life

There are petty things that play big roles in certain phases of life. Often we skip out of these areas and later realize their vitality. To keep a hold of these things, you need to do the framing of all the events in your detailed wedding list, that are likely to take place on the day and that too in order. This would help you maintain a smooth flow of all the events, without breaking the continuity. For example, music plays an evitable job in any auspicious function and when it comes to music, dance can't be left behind. It's a small thought but can be magical for any party. So, along with good music you can also arrange a dance floor for the purpose.

In your marriage-planning checklist, you can also mention about the gifts or what you say 'tokens of love' for your loved ones present in the wedding. The boundless joy of the people can reach beyond your estimation. Though it might consume lot of time but it's really worth working on detailed wedding checklist.

Organizing a wedding party is not a child's play unless you create a detailed wedding checklist. To read more information visit weddings-marriages.

Acoustic Guitar Tabs Make Learning Music Very Easy

Acoustic guitars have the advantage of having a much easier kind of music notation. In this notation, there are no notes, staffs and time signatures giving a much simpler and intuitive template called acoustic guitar tabs which are based on the position of the strings of the guitar. This way you are not required to learn to read music like you need to with other instruments.

Tablature or "tabs" are like little pictures of guitar strings which represent the acoustic guitar strings. The top string is the first row and the bottom one is the sixth row. On each of these rows you will have numbers that let you know the fret you are supposed to play. An open string is represented by the number "0" (zero), and an "X" represents a muffed string.

In case you did not know it, a fret is the area between the metal bars and the neck. It is the finger board of your guitar and usually there are somewhere like 21 to 24 frets on the acoustic guitar. Dots placed on the frets are there to give you a visual aid so you know where you are.

As you look at the acoustic guitar tabs you will notice that numbers all run in one line letting you know which fret you should be using on the one string that you are playing. These numbers act as a guide to show you that you should be playing each one of them individually. But when you see a number on each line and if the numbers are super imposed (on top) of one another this means that you have to play the notes all at the same time, and hence strum all six of your strings.

As you find out more on acoustic guitar tabs you will come across terms like pull offs, bends, slides and hammer ons. When you see the letter "h" this is a hammer on. So, for example you might see "7h9" on one of the rows. A "p" indicates pull offs, "b" indicates bends, and "/" (slash forward symbol) indicates slides.

Once you have familiarized yourself with reading music according to string position, the best thing to do is to search on the internet for basic acoustic guitar tabs of a tune that you know quite well. Now that you can read tabs, you will be surprised to find that you can play a tune quite quickly.

And you will be able to pick up a tune even faster if you can also listen to to while you are learning it. Try to get a feel for the beat even if the song is one that you know well. You will find that acoustic guitar tabs is an easy and fun way to learn and in time you will have mastered a collection of songs that you can play while at parties or for a private jam in the privacy of your own family home.

Ivan Calderwell shows you how to play using acoustic guitar tabs as well as everything there is to know on how to play acoustic guitar. For more articles and resources on this beautiful and melodic instrument, be sure to follow this link: acoustic guitar tabs.

CD Mixing Tips - 10 Tips To Get Your Music Mixes Rockin

With the widespread availability of affordable computers and powerful software for music mixing, the average musician is now able to set up a reasonably decent home studio on a relatively small budget. However, even though the software is extremely powerful and versatile, what seem to be missing are tips on how to create a great mix.

So, without any more fanfare, let us get right down to the 10 mixing tips you can try IMMEDIATELY to improve the quality of your mixes:

  1. While mixing, keep a close eye (and ear) on all those plug-ins. Each one of them will distort if the output signal exceeds the acceptable threshold level. Because the output meters are out of sight when the plug-ins are closed, it is fairly easy to be unaware of the distortion, all of which can absolutely ruin your mixes.
  2. Make use of the high-pass filter found on many equalizers to cut off the low frequencies on tracks that do not need the presence of low frequencies (e.g. frequencies below 100Hz) in order to sound right in the mix. These include vocals, hi-hats, keyboards, etc. Of course, all this depends on the song itself. For example, if you are mixing a song that is just piano or guitar and voice you might run a high-pass filter much lower down, around 40Hz or so, in order to maintain some of the bottom end in the mix. However, even the bass and kick drum can be improved by rolling off frequencies below 20Hz. Most project studio mixes sound terrible because there are too many sounds competing for space in the lower frequencies. On the opposite end of the spectrum, you can use a low-pass filter on instruments like bass and kick drum that do not need the presence of high frequencies.
  3. Try using compression to even out volume variations and control the attack of a sound. Using a FAST attack will accentuate the body of a sound, while using a SLOW attack will increase the definition. Bass, kick drums and vocals tend to benefit most from compression, although you should listen to all your tracks with and without compression to see what works best. Keep an eye on the other settings on the compressor (Input, Release, Threshold, Ratio, Output Gain) since these can dramatically affect the results you are trying to achieve. Its also important to remember that compression can raise the level of background noise in your mix as well as accentuate sibilance (essssssss) in the vocals. It may help to place a de-esser after the compressor to take care of excessive sibilance.
  4. Listen for tracks that can be cleaned up by scooping out (reducing) the frequencies between 150 300 Hz. This is generally where the mud tends to be in most tracks. Be careful when you do this however, since this can also be where the meat or warmth resides on some tracks. Listen for the track(s) that can benefit most from this action, and do not scoop out too much of the track or else your mixes will start to sound thin.
  5. Always listen to your mixes IN CONTEXT! It doesnt matter how great that kick drum sounds by itself if it sounds terrible once you turn everything else up. Its okay to solo a track briefly to get a sense of what is happening to the sound as you apply processing, but only do that for a few bars and then listen to it with everything else in context.
  6. A parametric equalizer is an extremely powerful signal processing tool used to sculpt sound. It is generally better to cut (reduce) than it is to boost (add) frequencies, although you should always do what is right for a particular track. Begin by making the track sound terrible (by boosting a specific frequency dramatically and sweeping slowly across the spectrum at a fairly narrow bandwidth as you listen), and than cutting the frequency that sounds bad in order to reduce the presence of the bad sound. Do that several times using each band, listening for when a cut or a boost is necessary, until you either run out of bands or dont need to make any more cut/boost corrections. Dont feel the need to use every band available, though. When using EQ and other signal processors, less processing tends to be more beneficial to the overall sound of the mix (i.e. less is more).
  7. Dont mix entirely in headphones, or at extremely loud volumes through your monitors. Spend most of your time mixing at moderate and even low volumes, occasionally cranking it up to see how things move at those high energy levels. Try listening to your mixes through several different headphones (which can pick up clicks and pops not heard in the monitors) and at different volume levels through the monitors, as well as on different monitors if possible. The mix will surely sound different on the different systems, but the objective is to get things to sound good on all systems, not great on some and terrible on others. Occasionally walk away from the monitors and listen to your mix from another room. This gives you another perspective on level imbalances not apparent inside your normal mixing environment.
  8. Concentrate on the busiest parts of your mixes first. This may be the hook (chorus), or bridge section, and this is where your mixes tend to get away from you the most. As you listen, make a determination as to whether or not EVERY SINGLE TRACK and EVERY SINGLE LAYER absolutely NEEDS to be in the mix ALL THE TIME. Mute / un-mute and add / remove tracks one at a time to evaluate their contribution to the impact of the song. It may be necessary to strip away some of those layers in order for your mix to sound more punchy and energetic.
  9. Make good use of automation. If that is too complicated (based on your understanding of your music mixing software) you can try breaking up your tracks into song sections (e.g. VOCAL intro, VOCAL verse 1, VOCAL B-section, VOCAL hook, VOCAL verse 2, VOCAL bridge, etc). The reason for this is that the signal processing and volume / pan settings that work for a track in one section of the song (e.g. VOCAL verse 1) may not necessarily be right for another section (e.g. VOCAL hook). In this instance, you may need to set your EQ, chorus, compression, reverb, pan, and volume settings differently for the different song sections. The same may apply to other instruments as well.
  10. Tune your instruments often during your recording session, or at least CHECK the tuning often. Even though this is a no-brainer for bass and guitars, dont forget that even drums (kick, toms, and snare) need to be tuned in order to sound their best. No matter how well you process the tracks for your mix, out-of-tune instruments will distract the listener and contribute to the impression that the mix sucks! It is sometimes possible to tune your instruments after the fact, but that time could be better spent on other crucial areas of your mix.

And there you have it! Try out some of these mixing tips and you will find yourself on the way to better mixes in no time.

The Bachlorette 4 Preview

After a nearly three year absence, The Bachelorette returns to ABC in a two hour premier Monday, May 19th, immediately following the season finale of Dancing With The Stars. DeAnna Pappas is the object of the boys' affections on this fourth installment of The Bachelor's distaff spin-off. Fans will remember DeAnna from The Bachelor 11, when Brad Womack left the final rose on its silver platter and became the first Bachelor to pick bachelorhood, leaving DeAnna and Jenni Croft in the church knave if not at the actual altar. Several changes have been made to the format for edition 4.

The first-impression rose that is handed out at the cocktail party that introduces each season has been replaced by no less than 3 first-impression boutonnieres. The first boutonniere is presented immediately; possibly as early as the initial meeting when the suitor exits his limo and introduces himself. Jenni Croft, who is now engaged to the boyfriend she broke up with shortly before being selected to appear on The Bachelor, will assist DeAnna in determining who gets the second boutonniere. She will interview the 25 bachelors individually and report back to DeAnna, who will then offer a boutonniere to one of the men based on her conversation with her one-time rival.

According to various reports from those who saw the ABC press screening of episode 1, with only one first impression rose boutonniere still in play, things get weird. Reality TV World reports, "A Canadian sales manager reveals he's wearing a thong with Pappas' name on it; a Bostonian greets her in Greek; a professional snowboarder arrives in florescent sneakers and a flamboyant jacket; an oyster farmer presents her with a pearl necklace; a chef whips up a crab cocktail; and a martial arts master kicks a lemon off another suitor's head."

Hopefully DeAnna will have the good sense to include all of the above in the first elimination. Ten bachelors will be sent home by the end of the premier, sending 15 suitors to the bunkhouse. And yes, I did say "bunkhouse." Rather than staying at the luxurious hill-top mansion we have all come to think of as our when-I-win-Powerball home, the bachelors will live in what ABC-is calling, "an unspectacular bunkhouse" down the hill from the mansion Pappas gets to herself. Over the course of the season three different trios of suitors will get to share the mansion with her.

The Bachelorette 4 group-date excursions will include; Dodger Stadium (for a game, or just a tour?), a stock car track, a dude ranch and an appearance on Ellen. Later in the season there will be a group outing to Palm Springs with Pappas and one bachelor having some private time at the late Frank Sinatra's home. Sounds kind of creepy.

Finally, the age range of the bachelors is 15 years: Paul, a 23 year-old sales manager from, Alberta, Canada is the youngest, 38 year-old and Spero, an actor from Santa Monica, the oldest.

Download TV Show Episodes and Save Your Money

Beware of Virus Threats

iTunes and Amazon are the preferred source for downloading television episodes, and many TV buffs enjoy doing this. There are other places like torrent networks that offer download services, but not without virus threats, and sometimes you do not get what you want in terms of quality. The download may also be incomplete.

Go for Quality

If you ask my opinion, then I don't approve any of these methods to download. The actual cost of downloading television shows may be more, and you may want to check other services which offer more so you end up paying less. It all depends on the television buff who really loves to watch the TV episodes, who may end up spending huge amounts of money on these shows.

Almost Free Downloads

There are many services available that allow you to download as many movies, television shows, and music videos as you want by paying a membership fee every year. This way you need not pay for every episode, and you can download all the episodes for a one time reasonable fee. Isn't this more economical?

Save Your Money

Some sites even offer life subscriptions. Pay a one time fee and download for a lifetime! All the TV shows, music videos, and even movies you wanted to own could be yours. Imagine the amount of money you would be saving!

Choose What Works Best For You

In my opinion there are several websites that offer these services and I have even checked their support and services. I can say that the options are plenty and all you need to do is drop in and choose what works best for you.

Jo Kino Liu is a total fanatic for downloading TV series and watching them at home but he doesn't appreciate to pay much for that. Drop by his site and see how he can legally download movies with no spyware or viruses almost for free, anytime he wants:
